Mahogany Finish 1948 Knabe Grand Piano Just tuned-great condition for sale in Los Altos, California

$3,900

This great sounding, nice size baby grand piano (5'7") has been owned since my parents bought it in 1958. I practiced on it for 10 years but I have never played it much in my adult life. We're turning the living room into a downstairs bedroom so we don't have to climb stairs so it is time for it to find a new home.
The piano was tuned by Mark Krag on March 10, 2015, primary tuner for Carnes Piano store in San Jose. Mark's written Appraisal for the piano is $5000-$6000. Instead of selling the piano on consignment, I'd like to find a local buyer who would appreciate a direct price of $3900 or best offer. Mark also provides an estimate to repair such things as reshaping the felt heads to eliminate string grooves.
Knabe pianos have a great name, maybe the best after Steinway and Baldwin, if the instrument was made before the original owners sold the name in the 90's to a manufacturer wanting to label a cheaper product. It's too bad that happened to a lot of good American-made products absorbed by companies wanting to trick the consumer.
The serial number #142349 can be checked on-line and verified as made in 1948.
Please call or email to arrange for a time to "audition" the instrument.
